PUBG, the high-intensity battle royale game from PUBG Corporation where 100 players battle it out to be the last person standing, has quickly become a global gaming phenomenon with over 400 million players across all platforms worldwide. The popularity the game has seen since the launch is phenomenal. Keeping this in mind, HP has launched the inaugural OMEN by HP Challenger Series Tournament in collaboration with Intel and PUBG Corporation.
The tournament is for Asia-Pacific region and Japan where PUBG players will compete against each other in the battle royale tournament. With a prize pool of $50,000, the registration slots for players is divided in two divisions, amateur and influencer invitation category.
Registrations for the tournament has already begun for players in 11 countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, India, China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Only the best squads from each country will be shortlisted for the Grand Finals that will be held in Bangkok between November 2 and November 4, 2018.
Few tournament rules has to be followed, with basic being the matches to be solely based on squad, consisting four players in the FPP mode on the Erangel as well as the Miramar Map. The tournament is not for professional players, so don’t expect to enter a battle against the likes of Shroud and Dr. Disrespect.
The teams can earn base points for their final ranking in a battle royale and additional points for the total number of skills.
The collaboration reinforces HP’s commitment to fueling the growth and evolution of the gaming landscape through strategic industry partnerships. HP expects more than 3,000 competitors to join either the amateur and influencer invitational categories.
“HP continuously pushes boundaries to develop the latest cutting-edge and comprehensive portfolio of OMEN gaming devices to fuel the passion, excitement and competitive spirit of gamers,” said Foo Siew Ting, Head of Personal Systems Marketing, HP Asia-Pacific & Japan. “Beyond developing groundbreaking technologies, our collaborations with the likes of PUBG Corporation are pivotal for developing deeper connections within the gaming community and evolving the landscape together.”
