A few days back Google released its annual list of best android applications and games for the year 2018. PUBG mobile dominated the list and also took three honours. The honours include 'Best Game', 'Most Competitive Title' and 'Fan Favourite'. By August 2018 PUBG Mobile crossed the 100 million downloads mark and a few days back it won the Mobile game of the year award at 36th Golden Joystick Awards.
The game was in a tight battle with its rival Fortnite but the former provides better gaming experience in Android. PUBG Mobile developed by Tencent Holdings Ltd. is free to download making it accessible to all. The game was released back in March 2018 and by September it won Game of the Year award. PUBG is also nominated for Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2018.
Meanwhile, the User's Choice App of 2018 in India has been won by Google Pay app for transforming Google Tez. This year’s edition of the awards is quite special because 2018 marks the first time that Google has allowed Android users to cast their vote and help crown the best apps and games of 2018. The Best App, on the other hand, was crowned to an app called Drops. Drops is a visual-based learning system that teaches vocabulary through illustrations and fast-paced micro-games. For travelers headed to a foreign country, the app might come in handy, particularly in restaurants, hotels and for public transport. Drops don't prioritize grammar and is instead ideal for anyone who would want to become fluent in a language.
In other categories, YouTube TV won the best app in Fan Favourite category. The most popular TV shows streamed on the Play Store platform were The Walking Dead, Riverdale and The Big Bang Theory.
