DICE wins Best Multiplayer Game Award for Battlefield 5 Multiplayer

In a very recent tweet from DICE, the company has claimed the Best Multiplayer Game Award at Gamescom 2018 for its upcoming title, Battlefield 5.

A large chunk of the Gamescom awards was hosted earlier last week, but the big three, were saved for the Sunday ceremony and this lot included the one for the best multiplayer game. The awards for Best Hardware, Best Multiplayer Game and Best Virtual Reality Game were evaluated by an ‘international jury of experts’ according to Gamescom.

Battlefield V managed to snag the award away from its biggest competitor – Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

Battlefield 5’s primary competitor for Best Multiplayer Game was Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The two titles share the same release window, along with Red Dead Redemption 2. However it seems EA is not that pleased with the pre-sale of Battlefield 5. Among its competitors, Battlefield 5 is lagging far behind in pre-order figures. Analyst group Cowen described pre-orders for Battlefield 5 to be ‘weak’ and are concerned that the game could be this year’s Titanfall 2. For those who don’t know, Titanfall was a great game which was undeservedly ignored because it was released between two giants of the gaming world – Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty Infinite Warfare
Inspite of all these odd figures for DICE, Battlefield 5 still managed to bag the Best Multiplayer Award.
As for Activision’s upcoming title, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, it didn’t go empty hand, however bagging the Best Social/Online Game Award earlier in the week.
