Microsoft's last effort to save PUBG?

PUBG XBOXPUBG is now free to play this weekend on the Xbox One. This is the first time PUBG is seeing a free weekend on the platform. However, PUBG PC will not have a free to play weekend like Xbox One. Although the news is great, the free weekend also shows Microsoft's efforts to save the game from the plummeting player base. This is the perfect time to get on PUBG if you have never tried it.

PUBG has been losing a large number of players for the past few months. The game's poor performance on the platform and Fortnite's success played a huge part in this. The new battle royale darling Blackout is also sweating PUBG. It is also rumored that the game will be losing its exclusivity with Xbox sometime next year. By contrast, it will be coming to the PlayStation 4.
Analytics also shows that the streaming hours by top streamers on the platform twitch has gone down by more than 30%. Meanwhile, Fortnite and Blackout garnering over triple the number of hours streamed. The PC player counts have also been on a decline for the past few months.
PUBG and Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 are both available for free on Xbox One from November 8 through November 11. However, PUBG & PES requires an Xbox Live Gold Subscription in order to play online.
