Popular video game digital distribution service Steam will be soon rolling out a new feature that gives automatic access to local multiplayer games as officially revealed by Steamworks website but on the flip side, this new feature can only be accessed by beta developers which are otherwise known as 'Remote Play Together' and will allow "two or more players to enjoy local multiplayer games over the internet.
This feature will be released on October 21.
Steam seems to follow the footsteps of Nvidia and Parsec which have offered similar features in the past in its GeForce Experience app and low-latency game streaming services respectively. As the name suggests, this feature will use remote play functionality to virtually mimic the experience of playing together in close proximity.
