Gaming hardware company Razer has entered a strategic partnership with Koelnmesse to become the esports partner of Gamescom Asia in 2020.
Razer will work with Koelnmesse to organize the esports and play zone at the event which can happen in Singapore from October 15th-18th 2020.
Mathias Kuepper, director of Koelnmesse mentioned the partnership during a release: “This partnership is that the excellent chance to bring a unique client expertise to Gamescom Asia, and that we are excited to possess Razer on-board as our 1st official esports partner. Together, we'll scale-up the playing field for the gaming business within the region”
gamescom Asia is hosted on October 15-18th and has been dubbed the “first regional satellite event” of Gamescom, which is held annually in Cologne, Germany. Slated to draw in over 30,000 guests, it’ll embrace esports events, a technology showcase, play workshops, meet-and-greet sessions, cosplay, and more.
David Tse, Global Esports Director at Razer commented on the partnership: “This is an incredible moment for the gaming event landscape in the region, and we invite gamers, communities, and partners to join us in support of Gamescom Asia 2020. Gamescom is the world’s biggest gaming event and we’re thrilled to partner Koelnmesse to transform the face of esports in this region.”
Razer committed $10 million SGD (£5.87 million) to Singaporean esports in September.
Esports Insider says: Razer has committed itself in a big way to the Asian esports market in recent months, this is just another addition to its plan to grow the economy in the region. It’ll be interesting to see just how involved it is with Gamescom Asia once the event comes round next year.
